This is a great youth wrestling move. The hip heist is highly effective for both youth and high school wrestlers and this coach teaches the skill very well.
Here is a video of 8 different single leg takedowns, executed in live matches.
It is important that wrestlers see single leg takedowns performed correctly in live match situations so that they can then imitate the wrestling move. This will help with muscle memory.
Wrestlers and coaches. This is what drilling should look like. One of the biggest challenges that I face as a wrestling coach is teaching kids how to drill correctly. Teach them good wrestling drills and habits and they will wrestle better in the match than they will with lots of live wrestling.
Blair Acadamy in Blairtown New Jersey shows us how they drill as the prepare for their supar quad meet between Blair Acadamy, St. Eds, Wyoming Seminary and Bergen Catholic. I hope this is helpful.
Today’s Match of the day is not actually a match, but rather a move or technique of the day.
I found this on Flowrestling today and it I thought that it was a great wrestling move technique so I made it the wrestling match of the day. Watch the video and try it out in the room today. I know I’m going to teach it to some of my wrestlers today.

Six time world champion John Smith goes over a leg defense technique at the beginning of practice at Oklahoma State University.
"In “Coaching Young Couch Potatoes,” Michael Clapier teaches coaches what I call Primary Greatness (character/values) as opposed to the traditional Secondary Greatness (winning is everything) as an effective way to mentor young athletes.
I have always believed that winning is only one of many goals set by a wise coach to develop a balanced young man or woman. How valuable it would be if coaches nurtured, inspired vision, and instilled character development into young athletes so they could apply these lessons not only in sports but to life’s experiences."

“I have owned the Championship Access discs for three years and I have to tell you, they work. My kids connect with them and we have been able to help our new coaches clearly understand what we are teaching through every level of our program.”

"Every kid in our program loves technology and my biggest problem is keeping the discs in my bag. They borrow them all the time. They are great!"
